About the Project

The purpose

The Permanent Orienteering Course (POC) is highly accessible and offers outdoor recreation with community, social, skills and healthy lifestyle benefits. The graduated courses will be offered via smart device QR codes or traditional printed map. Just rock up and go any time will particularly suit youth and current generation families.
For casual participants, some control marker posts will have a second QR code that links via their smart device to describe nearby Cornish Hill Reserve historical or natural features of interest.

Participation

The familiarity with smart devices of youth and current generation families encourages them to have a go. Courses challenge at varied levels mentally and physically thus providing for progression of capability. As well as pre-defined courses, participants can elect to design their own.
Local schools will be invited to take advantage of the POC.
The Visitor Centre’s Trail Rider all-terrain wheel chair makes it accessible to some less able participants at least one course will be suited to them.
The printed map will be tuned to accommodate a main form of colour blindness.

Supply

Most purchases of goods and services are in Daylesford. This includes using The Men’s Shed for preparing the cypress pine posts. The specialties of graffiti resistant signage and map printing are purchased regionally and the app from Europe.
